Freely based on the lucky characters created by Hanna&Barbera in the 60s, the Wacky Racersteam is a group constituted by non professionals pilots who decided to challenge themselves to live a breathtaking adventure discovering new places, new Worlds and new way of travelling with the aim of supporting charity projects in developing Countries.
The very first test for the Wacky Racers was the Dogon Challenge 2010, a crazy race to discover the heart of the mainland from which everything begun: Africa. On last December 26th, our fearless heroes left the cold land around Milan (and those lightly warmer of our capital) with an extraordinary vehicle, a pinch of recklessness and an empty baggage ready to be filled with all that this experience was able to offer them. In less than 15 days of travel, forgetting the asphalt roads of Europe to welcome with hot wheels the burning roads of Morocco, the sand tracks of Western Sahara and Mauritania, after a hit and run in Senegal to visit the arrival of the famous Paris-Dakar, they passed through the Savanna to reach the capital of Mali, Bamako. Here the powerful WackMobile was offered to the ONLUS Abarekà Nandrée together with the amount that the team, thanks also to its sponsors&supporters, was able to collect.
After this amazing experience, for 2011 the Wacky Racers have decided to lengthen the shot and challenge themselves in a new charity trip entirely organized and planned by them!
Heart for Bor, the new project supporting the activities of Progetto Anna Onlus, an Association based in Rho, takes its name from the Bor Clinic, the children hospital built by Progetto Anna near Bissau that offers free health services to the children who can't afford the public health service. Start day will be December 17th, another 8.000 Km to ride on the roads of two continents and 8 Countries, to discover the remotest corners of Africa, among which the Mauritanian inland and the Bijagos Islands, to reach the final destination of this year: the Guinea-Bissau.
Like last year, the team will leave from Milan to reach on the road the final destination. The goal of Wacky Racers, in fact, is also to promote low environmental impact ways of traveling at a more 'human' dimension, thanks to which one could get in touch also with the places crossed to reach the destination.
